Program Overview

This presentation will provide a brief overview of suicide in America, the goals and objectives of the Surgeon General's National Strategy for Suicide Prevention, 2001, and how developing social policy is impacting the training and practice of school counselors. Also included is a review of the relationship of untreated mental illness and suicide risk in youth and a description of the QPR Suicide Risk Reduction Program for Schools.

Dr. Quinett is also the author of seven books and an award-winning journalist as well as a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Science at the University of Washington School of Medicine in Seattle.
