School Resources

One out of every 10 school age children have asthma. Asthma is the leading cause of school absenteeism due to a chronic condition. Children with asthma or other respiratory conditions may encounter triggers on school grounds or inside the classroom. It is important for families, teachers, and school staff to have a role in making schools asthma-friendly and reduce students’ exposure to environmental asthma triggers. Asthma-friendly schools have policies and procedures in place that allow students to successfully manage their asthma. This page will provide information on asthma education and creating an asthma-friendly school.
