Overdose Surveillance

The Alabama Department of Public Health is the lead agency for surveillance of fatal and nonfatal drug overdoses, 911 runs related to drug overdose, and naloxone administration by emergency medical services personnel. This surveillance summary is intended to provide information for overdose prevention efforts, resource allocation, policy decisions, and to assist in monitoring the impact of these activities.

AL-SUDORS

The Alabama State Unintentional Drug Overdose Reporting System (AL-SUDORS) is a state-based surveillance program which tracks the incidence rate of overdose deaths with the purpose of providing data to public health officials, policymakers, and community stakeholders. It aims to gain a deeper understanding of emerging trends and factors leading to overdose and inform state-wide action for prevention and response efforts.
