The Alabama Department of Public Health has received reports that residents are receiving unsolicited telephone calls, some asking questions about their Medicare coverage and to sell health insurance. One of the numbers from which they are calling appears to be the Madison County Health Department.

Northern District Administrator Judy Smith said that no one from the Madison County Health Department has been making these calls and advises the public to hang up immediately if they receive one.

Recipients of these possibly fraudulent calls should not provide any personal information such as Social Security numbers or addresses.

County health departments throughout Alabama provide a wide range of confidential and professional services. Contact your local county health department for additional information.
