GuideSafe Launch News Conference - August 3 at 10 a.m., representatives from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, The University of Alabama System, and Alabama Department of Public Health, will be holding a news conference via Zoom to announce the launch of GuideSafe, a multitool platform encompassing the formerly announced Stay Safe Together and Testing for Alabama initiatives.

Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) - In December 2019, a new (or novel) human coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) type emerged in China. COVID-19, the infectious disease caused by SARS-CoV-2, is now a pandemic affecting many countries globally. This is an emerging, rapidly evolving situation. ADPH and the CDC are providing updated information and guidance as it becomes available.

COVID-19 Message from the State Health Officer - "Too many people are failing to take precautions and follow the simple steps that have been proven to prevent transmission of the virus. As Alabama is experiencing increased numbers of cases and, regrettably, more deaths, now is not the time to let your guard down." State Health Officer Dr. Scott Harris talks about "COVID caution fatigue" in his July message.

Candlelight Memorial in Honor of Pregnancy & Infant Loss Remembrance Day - Join us on October 15 for the "International Wave of Light," a lighting of candles, as we remember and honor those that left our lives too soon due to miscarriage, stillbirth, and infant death.

2019 Infant Mortality Reduction Summit - Join us for the 2019 Infant Mortality Reduction Summit on September 26-27 in Prattville. There will be plenary and breakout sessions focused on equity, breastfeeding, mental health, and more. CEUs will be provided to social workers and nurses. The deadline to register is September 13.

Focus Rallies for 7-12 Graders and Adults - The 17th Annual FOCUS Rally, an annual event for students in grades 7-12 and adult school chaperones, is being held in Tuscaloosa on September 10, and Talladega on September 18. This year's keynote speaker is Noah Galloway. Topics include: vaping, opiate epidemic, bullying, suicide, and more.

Twelfth Annual Women's Health Update - The Office of Women's Health Twelfth Annual Women's Health Update will be held Friday, August 2, 2019, at the Grandview Medical Center Auditorium in Birmingham, Alabama. Continuing education units for registered nurses, nurse practitioners, pharmacists, social workers, dietitians, and other health care providers are available.
