Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) - As of March 13, Alabama has cases of COVID-19. ADPH is in close communication with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) who is closely monitoring this rapidly evolving outbreak caused by the new coronavirus in China.
COVID-19 Related Emergency Orders of State Agencies - ADPH has a web page dedicated to emergency rules and other emergency actions taken by state agencies as they participate in Alabama’s response to COVID-19.
COVID-19 News Conferences - State Health Officer Dr. Scott Harris is providing updates on Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) to the news media and public through regular news conferences. Speakers for the news conferences have included Alabama Governor Kay Ivey, Brian Hastings, director of the Alabama Emergency Management Agency, Dr. Donald Williamson, president/CEO of the Alabama Hospital Association, and Dr. Eric Mackey, Alabama State Superintendent.

Stop Judging. Start Healing. Campaign - ADPH and the Alabama Department of Mental Health launch a statewide campaign, Stop Judging. Start Healing., aimed at assisting friends, family, physicians, mental health care clinicians, substance abuse prevention and treatment providers and all people in Alabama to change the way we speak about individuals with mental health illness, substance and opioid use disorders, HIV and Hepatitis C.

Candlelight Memorial in Honor of Pregnancy & Infant Loss Remembrance Day - Join us on October 15 for the "International Wave of Light," a lighting of candles, as we remember and honor those that left our lives too soon due to miscarriage, stillbirth, and infant death.
2019 Infant Mortality Reduction Summit - Join us for the 2019 Infant Mortality Reduction Summit on September 26-27 in Prattville. There will be plenary and breakout sessions focused on equity, breastfeeding, mental health, and more. CEUs will be provided to social workers and nurses. The deadline to register is September 13.
Focus Rallies for 7-12 Graders and Adults - The 17th Annual FOCUS Rally, an annual event for students in grades 7-12 and adult school chaperones, is being held in Tuscaloosa on September 10, and Talladega on September 18. This year's keynote speaker is Noah Galloway. Topics include: vaping, opiate epidemic, bullying, suicide, and more.
Twelfth Annual Women's Health Update - The Office of Women's Health Twelfth Annual Women's Health Update will be held Friday, August 2, 2019, at the Grandview Medical Center Auditorium in Birmingham, Alabama. Continuing education units for registered nurses, nurse practitioners, pharmacists, social workers, dietitians, and other health care providers are available.
Regional Training for After School - Teachers and after-school staff are invited to a series of free training sessions featuring education specialist Dr. Gale Gorke who will cover the following topics: Engagement - The "Unselfie;" Nutrition and Self Care; Empathy - Violence Prevention; and Special Needs and Inclusion on July 22 (Huntsville), July 23 (Pelham), July 24 (Greenville) and July 25 (Mobile).
