The Tuscaloosa VA Medical Center (TVAMC) along with the Alabama Department of Public Health (ADPH) will hold an open house for the “Mission Possible” program that provides telemental health to veterans in Pickens County and surrounding areas. The “Mission Possible” Open House will be on Tuesday, September 27, 2022, from 1:30 to 3 p.m. at the Pickens County Health Department in Carrollton, Ala., located at 80 William E. Hill Drive, Carrollton.
The partnership between TVAMC and ADPH, titled “Mission Possible,” has been in operation since November 2021 offering telemental health to veterans in the community in a more convenient location closer to home. "Mission Possible” signifies the possibilities that telemental health can provide like quick access to mental health providers at the Tuscaloosa VA and a wide variety of treatment options. The open house will allow veterans and community members to learn more about the program, meet the healthcare team, and hear about other services provided by the TVAMC and ADPH.
Veterans in Pickens County and surrounding areas wishing to utilize the Pickens County Health Department for their mental healthcare location of choice can call the Mental Health Clinic at (205) 554-2000, at extensions 1-3098 or 1-3099 to schedule an appointment. Telemental health appointments at the Pickens County Health Department are available Monday mornings.
Pickens County is just a start for the TVAMC’s Mission Possible. TVAMC hopes to expand services to 11 more ADPH sites within its 13-county catchment area in order to reach more veterans closer to where they live and work.
