Mead Johnson Nutrition has issued a voluntary recall of a small amount of Enfamil ProSobee 12.9 oz. Simply Plant-Based Infant Formula manufactured by Reckitt due to a possible health risk.
The recall includes two batches of approximately 145,000 cans of 12.9 oz. powdered formula manufactured between August and September 2022. These products were distributed through retail stores in the United States, Guam and Puerto Rico. No illnesses have been reported and no other ProSobee or other Mead Johnson Nutrition products are impacted.
Out of an abundance of caution, Mead Johnson Nutrition is voluntarily recalling formula with the following product information found on the bottom of the can:
Consumers with the recalled product should contact the Mead Johnson Nutrition customer service number (1-800-479-0551) or email ([email protected]) to receive a replacement or refund and discard this product. Products that do not contain the information listed above are not impacted by the voluntary recall. The Alabama Department of Public Health WIC Program is notifying WIC participants who may have been issued the potentially affected product. WIC participants may follow the same return process as non-WIC consumers by contacting Mead Johnson Nutrition directly. WIC participants who have immediate formula needs related to this recall may contact their local WIC clinic or the State WIC Office at 1-888-942-4673. Parents and caregivers of infants who have used this formula and are concerned about the health of their children should contact their health care providers.
The recall was issued due to the possibility of cross-contamination with Cronobacter sakazakii. All of the products have tested negative for the bacteria and no adverse reactions have been reported. In addition, Mead Johnson Nutrition conducted a thorough investigation and identified the root cause, which was linked to a material sourced from third party. Appropriate corrective actions were taken, including no longer sourcing the identified material from the supplier.

Alabama’s WIC Program is requiring all authorized WIC vendors to immediately remove potentially affected products from inventory.
