Emergency Alternate Care Sites

ADPH has developed an Alternate Care Site Application (Revised 08/04/21) to assist healthcare providers in obtaining approval for alternate care sites during the COVID-19 healthcare emergency.

Pharmacy Partnership for Long-Term Care Program

Starting on Monday, October 19, long-term care facilities (nursing homes, assisted living communities, ICF/IIDs and other congregate settings for older adults) will have two weeks to register with the CDC on how they want to receive and administer the COVID-19 vaccine when it becomes available. Nursing homes will be able to register through the NHSN website, while assisted living communities and other congregate settings can register at https://redcap.link/LTCF. The Alabama Department of Public Health strongly encourages all long-term care facilities to participate and register as soon as the portals open. This is critical to ensuring our vulnerable residents are among the first to receive a vaccine when it becomes available.

Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services Resources

On March 30, 2020, at President Trump’s direction, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) issued an unprecedented array of temporary regulatory waivers and new rules to equip the American healthcare system with maximum flexibility to respond to the 2019 Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. These temporary changes will apply immediately across the entire U.S. healthcare system for the duration of the emergency declaration. This allows hospitals and health systems to deliver services at other locations to make room for COVID-19 patients needing acute care in their main facility.
