Mask Up Alabama Video Contest

maskupal.jpgWith face masks have proved to be one of the most effective methods of preventing COVID-19 transmission, the Alabama Department of Public Health (ADPH), the Alabama Hospital Association (ALAHA) and the Medical Association of the State of Alabama sponsored a video contest for Alabamians of all ages to share why they feel it is important to wear a mask.

Each video needed to highlight basic information related to mask wearing and COVID-19, and applicants were asked to utilize information from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Use of Masks to Help Slow the Spread of COVID-19.

Alabamians across the state submitted videos and a panel of judges from the three sponsoring organizations narrowed the videos down to the final 10. On January 18, voting opened to the public to select the top five videos from the final 10. The top three videos selected by the public will win a cash prize while all five of the videos will be featured on the sponsoring organizations’ websites and social media.

There was no fee to enter as the sponsors were simply hoping to catch the attention of aspiring filmmakers and increase the use of masks. The top five winners and their videos are linked below.
