Crittenton Youth Services

Project Name: Crittenton Youth Services

Project Description

Crittenton Youth Services (CYS) provides teen pregnancy prevention activities in Mobile and Washington County Public School classrooms, summer youth-serving programs, and parent workshops. Instruction is provided by CYS health instructors and 42 ambassadors (high school seniors from various Mobile and Washington County Public Schools). The health instructors and ambassadors implement Managing Pressures Before Marriage for Preteens to over 3,500 sixth and seventh grade students. Information about sexually transmitted diseases is taught in high school health classes and to other youth groups upon request. In addition, Relationship Smarts Plus is provided as outreach in community-based settings, particularly in the summer months. Bridging the Great Divide, a new program developed to help parents better communicate with their teens, is available to any organized parent group in Mobile County.
