National Nurses Week 2024

National Nurses Week became a nationally-recognized day of observance in 1974. This observance was enacted to recognize the achievements and celebrate the contributions of nurses in the United States. National Nurses week is celebrated May 6 - 12 annually, to coincide with famed nurse Florence Nightingale's birthday of May 12. Learn more about the history of National Nurse Week.

The theme for National Nurses Week 2024 is "Nurses Make the Difference." We believe that the public health nursing workforce makes a great difference in the health outcomes of the citizen of Alabama.
