Program Overview

Antibiotic therapy is very important for the treatment of a vast array of infectious diseases. However, over prescribing antibiotics poses a serious public health crisis as the instances of antibiotic resistance rise. This program will explore antimicrobial stewardship and its impact in the fight against antibiotic resistance. Guidelines and polices, practical steps for developing, as well as benefits of a stewardship program will be reviewed. Program faculty will also review CDC guidelines for infection prevention in outpatient settings.
