Winston County Health Department The Winston Health Department offers WIC, environmental, home care, and clinical services to the public. Clinical services include STD testing and treatment, family planning, childhood and other vaccines, and breast and cervical cancer screening. Certified copies of birth, death, marriage, and divorce certificates may be obtained from this health department.

Free Communication Assistance

The Alabama Department of Public Health offers free communication assistance to all clients. Free communication assistance is the use of an interpreter or other communication services to assist the participant in effectively communicating with bilingual staff. Learn more.

COVID-19 Vaccine and Testing

  • COVID-19 vaccinations are given Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. Testing is performed as needed. No appointment is needed. Please call 205-489-2101 ahead of time to ensure the correct vaccine is available to you.

Flu Vaccines

Flu vaccines are available Monday - Friday on a walk-in basis.

Pregnancy Risk Assessment Monitoring System (PRAMS)

The Pregnancy Risk Assessment Monitoring System (PRAMS) is a survey jointly administered by the CDC and the Alabama Department of Public Health. Its purpose is to find out why some babies are born healthy and others are not. New mothers are randomly chosen to participate in PRAMS and will receive surveys in the mail. They can return the survey in the enclosed postage-paid envelope. Mothers may also do the survey over the phone if they prefer. Whether by mail or by phone, each mother who completes the survey will receive her choice of a package of disposable diapers, an insulated cooler, a manicure set, or a onesie for her baby (size 12 months). Mothers who receive a survey are encouraged to complete it. Each woman's experiences are different and can help improve the health of all our moms and babies.
