2018 Fish Consumption Advisory - ADPH annually updates fish consumption advisories based on data collected the preceding fall by the Alabama Department of Environmental Management (ADEM). New and updated consumption advisories issued for the 36 bodies of water tested are now available.

Environmental Study in Lowndes County Fails to Prove Hookworm Infection - While ADPH continues to monitor the counties in the West Central and Southwestern districts of Alabama for evidence of gastrointestinal (GI) outbreaks, there is currently no evidence of an increased incidence of GI outbreaks in these ADPH Districts than in other parts of Alabama.

NIH Community Listening Session on Minority Health and Health Disparities - Calling all community advocates, clinical and public health professionals, non-profit and faith-based organizations representing NIH-designated health disparity populations to join the National Institutes of Health for a virtual listening session on Wednesday, May 2 at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Montgomery discussing the Minority Health and Health Disparities Strategic Plan.

Updates on HIV Prevention Webcast - This April 30 webinar provides an update on the current HIV epidemic, in addition to disparities impacting the African American community related to treatment, stigma and prevention. A regional federal speaker will discuss guidelines for prevention of HIV transmission through daily treatment also known as PrEP. Considerations related to post-exposure prophylaxis or PEP will also be discussed during this free one-hour webinar in observance of National Minority Health and STI Awareness Months.

2018 Employee Health & Fitness Walk - The annual Employee Health & Fitness Walk is teaming up with National Walk @ Lunch Day in 2018 at the State Capitol on Friday, April 13. This day is aimed at promoting awareness for the benefits of physical activity and improving overall employee health and wellness. This event will include a one mile "Fun Walk" around the State Capitol and will offer multiple start times.
