2018 Fish Consumption Advisory - ADPH annually updates fish consumption advisories based on data collected the preceding fall by the Alabama Department of Environmental Management (ADEM). New and updated consumption advisories issued for the 36 bodies of water tested are now available.

Environmental Study in Lowndes County Fails to Prove Hookworm Infection - While ADPH continues to monitor the counties in the West Central and Southwestern districts of Alabama for evidence of gastrointestinal (GI) outbreaks, there is currently no evidence of an increased incidence of GI outbreaks in these ADPH Districts than in other parts of Alabama.

11th Annual Women's Health Update Conference - The Office of Women's Health Eleventh Annual Women's Health Update will be held Friday, August 3, 2018, at the St. Vincent's Health System Bruno Conference Center in Birmingham, Alabama. This year's theme is: "Closing the Gaps in Women's Health, A Look at the Opioid Crisis." This event is a continuing education offering for registered nurses, nurse practitioners, pharmacists, social workers, dietitians, and other health care providers.

Free SUIDI Training - ADPH is providing Child Injury & Death Scene Re-Enactment and Scene Reconstruction SUIDI Training where attendees will learn the skills needed to provide an investigation that will lead to a more accurate determination of the cause of injury and persons responsible. This free training will be held in various cities during the months of July and August.

Substance Misuse Program - ADPH and Auburn University Harrison School of Pharmacy is offering a multidisciplinary education program that will advance attendees' knowledge of and abilities to combat prescription drug misuse and illicit drug use in Alabama. The free programs will take place in Florence, Dothan, Mobile, and Birmingham on various dates in June, July, and August. CEUs are available.
