Program Overview

The Alabama Department of Public Health is committed to providing our employees and clients a safe workplace free from harassment, intimidation, threats, and violence. Employees are required to read and follow the "Policy Against Violence in the Workplace." All supervisors must attend the "Interview and Selection" training to ensure prescreening steps are followed in the hiring process. An employee who is going through a difficult time should be reminded and encouraged to participate in the State’s Employee Assistance Program (SEAP). Supervisors must address unprofessional conduct in the workplace before it escalates to more serious problems.

The State’s Employee Assistance Program is providing this program as further training for all Alabama Department of Public Health employees. The faculty will discuss the steps to maintain a safe workplace, warning signs, and how to address issues with staff before and after any incidents. By shifting the emphasis from reactive approaches to preventive methods we can ensure that our employees enjoy a safe work environment.

This program is required for all employees of the Alabama Department of Public Health. Handout materials will include a Participant Acknowledgement Form which must be completed and filed at each employee’s workplace.
