Ventilator Associated Pneumonia (VAP)
VAP is reported when a patient is diagnosed with pneumonia using a combination of established criteria and was intubated and ventilated at the time of the diagnosis of pneumonia or within 48 hours of the diagnosis of the event. However, VAP is not currently an ADPH Target HAI.
Refer to CDC NHSN definitions for details related to VAP such as criteria for VAP, settings, requirements, definition, location of attribution, and reporting instructions.
