Active Agents

Organizations performing utilization review (UR) for services given or proposed to be given to an individual within this state are required to obtain certification from the Department of Public Health. Alabama recognizes Utilization Review Accreditation Commission (URAC) accreditation specific to Health Utilization Management. Certification in Alabama based on URAC accreditation typically runs concurrently with the URAC accreditation time period.

Organizations not accredited by URAC may be certified in Alabama by demonstrating compliance with Alabama standards at Code of Alabama, 27-3A. Alabama requirements include a filing fee and annual renewal. Organizations certified based solely on Alabama requirements must renew no later than July 1 of each year.

New and renewing agents are certified each month. The list of certified UR agents appearing on this site represents certified agents as of the date of the list.
