TB Skin Testing- Train The Trainer

Date: April 15, 2020

Time: 8:00 A.M. - 5:00 P.M.

Location: 601 West Blvd, Birmingham, AL 35206

Site: Eastern Health Center in Roebuck

Who should attend: Nurses proficient in administering and reading the tuberculin skin test (TST) and are responsible for training others in TST. Not intended for those learning how to perform TSTs. This one day skill-building course provides the knowledge needed to plan, teach, and evaluate a Mantoux Tuberculin Skin Test (TST) course. The course content includes skills for planning and conducting a TST training, including adult learning principles and teaching strategies. The curriculum is provided through lecture and participatory activities, including practicum in TST administration and reading and instructional skills demonstration. Each participant must demonstrate proficiency in delivering course content plus administering and reading the TST. Participants will receive feedback from experienced trainers as they practice their skills. Topics include: adult learning principles for instructors, tips and tools to plan and conduct a successful TST training, and TST course curriculum review and demonstration.

TB Update Training Sessions

Tuberculosis continues to pose significant health risks among many populations throughout Alabama. As part of our ongoing training initiative for public and private sector partners, the Bureau of Disease Control, Division of Tuberculosis Control, is pleased to announce an upcoming class entitled TB Update. Leading TB experts in Alabama will convene a two day seminar on the basics of tuberculosis control. Topics to be covered include:

  • TB Transmission and Pathogenesis
  • TB Skin Testing Theory and Science
  • Pharmacology and Radiology
  • Infection Control/Respiratory Precautions
  • Confidentiality/HIPPA Requirements

Participation is limited. Please complete and mail or fax the registration form below for you or your appointee to attend this important training opportunity.
