Identity Theft/HIPAA Breach
The Alabama Department of Public Health will not tolerate the wrongful disclosures of patient/ client information.
Tamika Floyd, was sentenced to 87 months in federal prison on May 19, 2015, after pleading guilty to wrongfully disclosing patient/client information from the Alabama Department of Public Health and the Alabama Department of Human Resources. Ms. Floyd pled guilty to accessing confidential data from both agencies and providing it to her co-conspirators who then used the information to file false tax returns. This underscores the federal government's goal of identifying and deterring individuals who provide information to be used for identity theft.
