2020-2021 Campaign

As the COVID-19 pandemic continues this fall, the Alabama Hospital Association, the Medical Association of the State of Alabama and the Alabama Department of Public Health (ADPH) have joined forces to urge Alabamians to get vaccinated for the flu. They note that with the additional impact of COVID-19, it’s more important than ever to get a flu shot and to get it early.

Sample Text and On-Hold Messages

Feel free to include these with your other text or on-hold messages or develop your own.

Sample Text Messages to Send to Patients:

  • Protect yourself and your family by getting a flu shot. We need to avoid a double whammy of COVID-19 and the flu. (insert where they can go locally to get a shot)
  • Did you know that it’s possible to get COVID-19 and the flu at the same time? Let’s avoid at least one of them by getting a flu shot.
  • _______ (insert name of facility/practice) urges you to protect yourself and your family by getting a flu shot. You can increase your odds of staying safe and avoiding what could be a deadly disease.

Sample On-Hold Messages:

  • Last year, only about half of Americans got their flu shots. This year, with the threat of having both COVID-19 and the flu, we’ve got to do better. Check with your doctor or local pharmacy for times that you can get your flu vaccination. (or insert where they can go locally to get a shot)
  • This year, it’s more important than ever to get your flu shot. Why? Because research shows that it’s possible to have the flu and COVID-19 at the same time. An annual flu vaccine is recommended for everyone 6 months of age and older, and it is a great way to protect yourself from catching the flu and getting really sick. Check with your doctor or local pharmacy for times that you can get your flu vaccination. (or insert where they can go locally to get a shot)
