We are also pleased to consider requests for speaking engagements. If you are interested in having a member of our Public Health Educator Team speak at your event, please complete the Outreach and Education Request Form. Current Vaccination Efforts & Initiatives
2024 National Influenza Vaccination Week (NIVW)
NIVW is an annual observance in December to remind everyone 6 months and older that there's still time to get vaccinated against flu. Together, we can use NIVW as a nationwide call to action to encourage everyone 6 months and older to get their annual flu vaccine, especially pregnant people, young children, and others at higher risk.

Don't Wait, Vaccinate Campaign
Fall and winter are times when viruses that cause respiratory disease usually circulate more heavily in the community. Vaccination against these respiratory viruses is important for everyone, especially those who are at higher risk of developing serious complications, including older Americans and those with medical conditions. Vaccines protect our community and players. As we gear up for fall and winter sports, make sure you and your family are up to date on all recommended vaccines, including respiratory virus vaccines. Don’t Wait, Vaccinate!
The Immunization Division partners with college and university athletic departments, ESPN, and select high schools throughout Alabama to raise awareness of the significance of vaccines.

Wild to Mild Campaign
Everyone six months and older should get a flu vaccine every season with rare exceptions. Flu vaccination has important benefits. It can reduce flu illnesses, visits to doctor's offices, and missed work and school due to flu. Wild to Mild is a CDC flu vaccination campaign that provides resources to encourage annual flu vaccination.
Routine Immunizations on Schedule for Everyone (RISE)
Let's RISE is a CDC initiative to provide actionable strategies, resources, and data to support getting all Americans back on schedule with their routine immunizations to protect everyone from vaccine-preventable diseases and disability.
