Vital Records
The Wilcox County Health Department offers vital statistics services to the public. Birth records can be obtained by immediate family members (mother, father, sister, brother, son, daughter, husband, wife, or anyone showing just cause to obtain copies). Birth certificates from 1908 until the present are on file. Birth certificates are restricted records for 125 years.
Death records can be obtained by the same individuals as above and are available from 1908 until the present. Death records are restricted for 25 years.
Marriage and divorce records are also available. Marriage records are available from August 1936 and divorce records are available from 1950 to the present.
The cost for vital stats is $15.00 for the first copy and $6.00 for additional copies obtained at the same time. You must bring in the application in person. Customers can obtain most vital records from the Center for Health Statistics through their county health department, usually while they wait. Records may also be obtained through the mail in about 7-10 days.
