Get Tested

To control STDs, the Alabama Department of Public Health county health departments operate free, confidential STD clinics statewide. Free testing and treatment are provided for chlamydia, gonorrhea, syphilis, trichomoniasis, and HIV. To find the closest clinic near you, contact your nearest county health department. You can also access free HIV testing care with these organizations.

STD/HIV home specimen collection and laboratory testing kits are now available by mail for all Alabama residents, and to select individuals who are on PrEP therapy. Persons may request one test every three months. Learn more at STD/HIV Home Testing.

Testing of pregnant women for sexually transmitted diseases in Alabama is required. View the legislation, effective March 24, 2006, titled Rule 420-4-1-.14.
