Who do I need to list as part of my household?

All people who physically reside in your home, including spouse, step parents and step children.

Do I need to list those in my household on my application even if they currently have health insurance?

Yes, if someone in your household currently has health insurance they must be listed on your application as a part of your household.

Who is a tax filer?

An individual who files a tax return and does not expect to be claimed as a tax dependent on someone else's return.

Can my 18-year-old college student apply?

Yes, if your child is a full-time student, the parental income must be counted when determining eligibility. Please note that coverage ends when the student turns 19 years old.

Can parents apply when there is shared joint custody?

Yes, documentation may be requested outlining custody details.

What if my child has other insurance?

ALL Kids provides coverage for children who do not have other comprehensive health insurance. A child cannot be approved for ALL Kids if there is other comprehensive health coverage. A child can have other vision and/or dental policies and apply for ALL Kids coverage. If the child is pregnant and has other coverage that does not include dependent maternity care, please contact ALL Kids customer service at 1-888-373-5437.

What if I have cancelled the other insurance?

ALL Kids provides coverage for children who are not covered by other insurance. There is no waiting period to apply when coverage has been dropped voluntarily.

How long will it take to receive my insurance cards once I submit an online application?

Once an application is processed and determined eligible, the insurance card should be received within 7-10 days.

How long will it take to complete the online application?

Completion times may vary. Please allow approximately 45 minutes to complete the submission. We suggest you complete a paper application and use it as a guide to complete the online application. You may print an application off of this website print one, pick one up at your local health department or request we mail one to you.

Can I apply online for my newborn without the Social Security Number?

Yes, you can apply for coverage for your newborn before you receive a Social Security Number. You may leave the SSN blank on the application. Then call ALL Kids Customer Service at 1-888-373-5437 and update the application with the SSN as soon as you receive it.

How often can I submit an online application?

You can submit an online application once every 30 days.

How long will my child have coverage after being approved for ALL Kids?

Children receive twelve months of coverage with ALL Kids unless they turn 19 or move out of the state prior to the twelve months ending. Coverage must be renewed annually and premiums must be paid prior to renewing coverage.

Can I apply for ALL Kids for my child who is pregnant?

You may apply for ALL Kids while your child is pregnant. If your child has other health insurance but it does not cover dependent maternity care, please contact ALL Kids Customer Service at 1-888-373-5437.

How long does it take to process a paper application after it has been received by ALL Kids?

Processing time varies. Applicants will be notified by mail once the application has been processed.

How do I pay my premium?

  • Phone payments may be made with a credit or debit card by calling ALL Kids at 1-888-373-5437 and selecting OPTION 8. Have your Contact ID ready.

Your child's premium does not have to be paid in full in order to use the healthcare coverage, but the premium must be paid in full before you may apply for coverage the next year. The premium balance is located on your renewal form.

What should I do if I have not received my renewal notice/application?

Contact ALL Kids Customer Service at 1-888-373-5437.

Can I apply for ALL Kids for a child if I am not the legal guardian?

You can apply for ALL Kids for a child even if you are not the parent or legal guardian if the child resides with you full time.

Can I apply for ALL Kids for my child that does not reside in the home with me?

To apply for ALL Kids for a child, the child must reside in the home with you.

What do I do if I have not received my child's ALL Kids card?

Contact ALL Kids Customer Service at 1-888-373-5437.

How do I cancel my child's ALL Kids coverage?

You may cancel your child's ALL Kids coverage at any time by sending a request by fax to 334-206-3783 or in writing to:

How do I apply for ALL Kids?

You can apply for ALL Kids online or with a paper application. See our section on "Apply Now" to apply online. You can also mail or fax in a paper application for processing. You can pick up a paper application at the local Health Department or print one here.

What do I do if I forgot my user name and password?

If you forgot your username or password, click on the "Forgot your Username or Password" link. You will need to use the email address or username that was used when you created the account. If you created an online account prior to January 01, 2014, you will need to create a new account.

Are braces covered by ALL Kids?

Orthodontia services are only covered for limited conditions.

Who provides this health coverage?

ALL Kids has contracted with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alabama and uses their preferred provider network.

When does coverage begin?

If approved, coverage will begin the first day of the month after the application is received.

What if I am not a U.S. citizen but my child is?

Your children can receive ALL Kids coverage as long as they meet the ALL Kids eligibility rules.

What if my child has a pre-existing condition, disability or chronic illness?

There are no exclusions for pre-existing conditions.

What is the best web browser to use when completing the online application?

The online application works best in Google Chrome.
