Home Care Service Nurse

The Home Care Service Nurse positions are full-time permanent positions with the Alabama Department of Public Health. Positions are located throughout the state.

  • Home Care Services Nurse Classification: (40229)
  • Home Care Services Nurse Managers Classification: (40235)
  • Home Care Services Nurse Care Coordinator Classification: (40233)
  • Home Care Services Nurse Supervisor Classification: (40234)
  • Home Care Services Nurse Administrator Classification: (40238)

Salary Range: $47,839.20 - $134,824.80

Minimum Requirements:

  • Associate’s Degree with or without experience, Bachelor’s Degree with or without experience through a Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Nursing, Public Health, Public Administration, or Business Administration.
  • Possession of a license to practice professional nursing as issued by the Alabama Board of Nursing.
  • Applicants must include their license number on their application.
  • If your application states you have a college degree, The Alabama Department of Public Health requires documentation verifying possession of the degree prior to employment.
  • Overnight travel is required for some positions.

Home Health Aide

The Home Health Aide positions are full-time, permanent positions with the Alabama Department of Public Health. Positions are located throughout the state.

  • Home Health Aide Classification: (40111)

Salary Range: $23,390.40 - $42,309.60

Minimum Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED, OR completion of the eleventh grade including one-year experience in a health care facility or providing health care to homebound patients, OR completion of the tenth grade including two years’ experience in a health care facility or providing health care to homebound patients.

  • Nurse – Hourly

Health Specialist

The Health Specialist position is an hourly, conditional, no benefits position with the Department of Public Health. Individuals are appointed to this classification to serve on an at-will, part-time, as-needed basis. Individuals appointed to this classification do not serve a probationary period nor obtain permanent status; therefore, individuals do not have due process rights. This is non-professional work in providing supportive health services to patients and health care staff. Positions are located throughout the state.

  • Health Specialist: (40109)

Salary Range: $8.59 per hour - $17.13 per hour

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED

Nurse – Hourly

The Nurse – Hourly is an hourly, conditional, no benefits position with the Department of Public Health. Individuals are appointed to this classification to serve on an at-will, part-time, as-needed basis. Individuals appointed to this classification do not serve a probationary period nor obtain permanent status; therefore, individuals do not have due process rights. Positions are located throughout the state.

  • Registered Nurse: (40251)

Salary Range: $23.00 per hour - $38.52 per hour

Minimum Requirements:

  • Associate’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university in Nursing.
  • Alabama Professional Nursing License, in good standing, as issued by the Alabama Board of Nursing.
  • License number MUST be included on application.
