PRAMS
Moms Helping Moms Have Healthy Babies - Your Voice Does Matter!
Alabama Pregnancy Risk Assessment Monitoring System (PRAMS) mails a survey to randomly selected new moms asking about their lives before, during, and shortly after their pregnancies. By sharing, they can help us understand why some babies are born healthy and others are not. All new moms should keep an eye out for a PRAMS survey packet in their mailbox 2-4 months after delivery.
The Pregnancy Risk Assessment Monitoring System (PRAMS) is a joint research project between state departments of public health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). On a personal level, moms can positively influence the success rate for future healthy pregnancies and deliveries by sharing their experiences with the PRAMS program.
Alabama is one of the 46 states currently participating in PRAMS. Additional participants include the District of Columbia, New York City, the Northern Mariana Islands, and Puerto Rico. Participating states represent approximately 81% of all U.S. live births. Four other states (California, Idaho, North Carolina, and Ohio) previously participated.
