What is a Healthcare Coalition?
A coalition brings together diverse groups that share a common goal. By working together, coalition members can increase and expand their influence and make a stronger case for policy change among different audiences. The goal is to allow for consistency in a community’s approach to addressing health issues. The core members of a healthcare coalition are hospitals, EMS, EMA, and public health. The focus of the coalition is on the core capabilities of Health Care and Medical Readiness, Health Care and Medical Response Coordination, Continuity of Health Care Service Delivery, and Medical Surge. By working together and pooling resources, communities can be better prepared to respond to emergencies.
