Promoting Interoperability

Welcome to Alabama's Resource Center for Public Health Reporting Measures and Readiness for Promoting Interoperability. These series of pages provide guidance on the following topics:

The information below summarizes each program's readiness and required reporting method:

  • Public Health Measure: Immunization Registry Reporting
    ImmPRINT accepts electronic immunization data submissions from Eligible Professionals’ (EPs) and Eligible Hospitals’ (EHs) certified electronic health record (EHR), to fulfill the Medicaid EHR Incentive Program and the MIPS Advancing Care Information Quality Payment Program for Public Health PI Reporting Objective - Immunization Registry Reporting.
  • Public Health Measure: Electronic Lab Reporting
    Eligible Professionals: NA
    Eligible Hospitals and Critical Access Hospitals: ADPH is accepting Laboratory data
    (since 2011)
    ADPH Supported Reporting Method: HL7 v2.5.1
  • Public Health Measure: Syndromic Surveillance Reporting
    Eligible Professionals: Within Urgent Care Settings: ADPH is currently accepting SS data
    (since 2016)
    Eligible Hospitals and Critical Access Hospitals: Emergency Departments: ADPH is accepting SS data
    (since 2013)
    ADPH Supported Reporting Method: HL7 v2.5.1
    Eligible Professionals: Within Non-Urgent Care Settings: ADPH is not currently accepting SS data
    Eligible Hospitals and Critical Access Hospitals: Non-Emergency Departments: ADPH is not currently accepting SS data
    ADPH Supported Reporting Method: NA
  • Public Health Measure: Electronic Case Reporting
    Eligible Professionals: ADPH is ready to accept eCRs via CDC's AIMS platform.
    Eligible Hospitals and Critical Access Hospitals: ADPH is ready to accept eCRs via AIMS platform.
    ADPH Supported Reporting Method: HL7 CDA R2 Implementation Guide
  • Public Health Measure: Cancer Registry Reporting
    Eligible Professionals: ADPH is ready to accept registration
    Eligible Hospitals and Critical Access Hospitals: ADPH is ready to accept registration
    As of November 2021, ADPH no longer accepts HL7 V3 CDA Messages via web services
  • Public Health Measure: Specialized Registry - Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PDMP)
    Eligible Professionals: ADPH is ready to accept registration
    Eligible Hospitals and Critical Access Hospitals: ADPH is ready to accept registration
