STD Services

The Alabama Department of Public Health's county health departments, private providers, and partner clinics offer STD services in Alabama. Services include screening, counseling, treatment, and partner notification services to infected clients or those suspected of being infected with STDs; laboratory reporting and surveillance analysis to identify and report diseases; outreach activities and notification of at-risk population; and education of the public about prevention.

STD Intervention

Provides confidential counseling of infected patients and notification services for sex partners and other at-risk individuals to prevent the spread of STDs.

STD Reporting and Surveillance

Analyses of STD case rates, trends, and routine surveillance of disease distribution statewide allow for timely response to outbreaks and produce reports for effective intervention strategies.

HIV Intervention

Provides screening, counseling, partner counseling, and referral services to persons infected with or suspected of being infected with HIV. Intervention also includes HIV pre-test, post-test counseling, and linkage to care for HIV-infected clients for treatment health maintenance.
