Alabama Statewide Stroke System

Stroke is a medical emergency that requires rapid hospital evaluation and time-sensitive treatment to reduce mortality, limit brain injury, and improve recovery. The Alabama Statewide Stroke System brings together hospitals, emergency medical services (EMS) agencies, and the Alabama Trauma Communications Center (ATCC) into a coordinated network that supports timely decision-making and patient routing. Through real-time communication and standardized processes, patients with suspected stroke are transported to the nearest appropriate hospital capable of delivering the level of care required for their condition.
