Vaccine Standing Order for Pharmacies
In an effort to ensure that vaccines known to prevent disease are readily available, the State Health Officer has made available a Standing Order that may be used as a prescription for persons 19 years of age and older to obtain the vaccines. Vaccines included in the standing order are:
- Chickenpox (Varicella)
- Meningococcal
- COVID‐19, Mumps
- Diphtheria
- Pneumococcal
- Flu (Influenza)
- Polio (Poliomyelitis)
- Hepatitis A
- RSV (Respiratory Syncytial Virus)
- Hepatitis B
- Rubella (German Measles)
- Hib (Haemophilus influenzae type b)
- Shingles (Herpes Zoster)
- HPV (Human Papillomavirus)
- Tetanus (Lockjaw)
- Measles
- Whooping Cough (Pertussis).
This order may be used by Alabama licensed pharmacists and registered pharmacy interns, externs, or technicians to the extent permitted by federal or state law to administer vaccines when complying with the directions set out in section V of the standing order. All administered vaccines must be recorded in ImmPRINT.
