Tobacco Compliance Checks
In accordance with the law, the Alabama Alcoholic Beverage Control Board (ABC) has the responsibilities to conduct compliance checks on all vendors of tobacco in the state. ABC officers use minor operatives to see if the minor is allowed to purchase any type of tobacco product, either over the counter or through a vending machine, located on the premises of a retail establishment where a minor is legally allowed to go. The checks are reported for the month and year of the check, the store name and location and whether or not the store sold tobacco illegally to the minor.
To report a store that is selling either tobacco or alcohol illegally to minors, contact ABC Licensing & Compliance Division at 1-800-327-7341. Visit the Alcoholic Beverage Control Board website for more information. Visit the FDA for information on how to report potential tobacco product violations.
