Licensure Advisory Board Meetings

August 12, 2020, at 1 p.m.

A quorum of the committee members for the Licensure Advisory Board (LAB) to the State Health Officer for the Alabama Department of Public Health met via teleconference pursuant to the provisions of Section III. of the Governor's Proclamation of March 18, 2020, during the public health emergency.

The LAB reviewed the information provided in the ordinary course of business and voted to reinstate healthcare license fees for Independent Clinical Laboratories performing waived testing, effective October 1, 2020. The LAB also voted to provide a recommendation to the Governor for filling the vacant position on the Board representing the interest of Consumers.

October 13, 2020, at 2 p.m.

A quorum of the committee members for the Licensure Advisory Board (LAB) to the State Health Officer for the Alabama Department of Public Health met via teleconference pursuant to the provisions of Section III. of the Governor's Proclamation of March 18, 2020, during the public health emergency.

The LAB voted for a new chairman to fill the seat of the outgoing chairperson, reviewed the information provided in the ordinary course of business, and considered a request for a temporary waiver of the licensure for Independent Clinical Laboratories, applicable solely to pharmacies performing waived testing as part of the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alabama Pharmacy Network. The Board unanimously recommended granting the request.

April 13, 2021, at 2:03 p.m.

A quorum of the Board members of the Licensure Advisory Board (LAB) to the State Health Officer for the Alabama Department of Public Health met via teleconference during the Public Health Emergency, pursuant to the provisions of Section III. of the Governor’s Proclamation of March 18, 2020.

The Board unanimously approved the nomination of the Interim Chairman to serve as the elected Chairman, reviewed information in the ordinary course of business, and approved a statement in support of the Alabama Department of Public Health’s efforts to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 in Alabama, encouraging the public to continue masking, sanitizing, and social distancing.
